About Guitar Shed

Why Guitar Shed

By Musicians. For Musicians

Guitar Shed was built by a musician who wanted something better — and that spirit still drives everything we do. Our teachers live and breathe music, and they’re dedicated to helping students grow both technically and creatively.

Locally Grown. Personally Tuned.

We’re not a franchise or one-size-fits-all program. Our environment is relaxed, professional, and tuned into each student’s goals––from casual learning to performance-ready skills.

All Ages. All Vibes.

From early childhood classes to adult ensembles, we meet students where they are. Whether you're exploring music for the first time or diving deeper into your craft, we’ve got the right class and the right teacher for you.

ATLANTA'S HOME FOR MUSIC LESSONS.

We’re proud to be deeply involved in the East Atlanta communities of Kirkwood and Edgewood — and whether you're local, driving from another part of town or joining us online, there's a place for you in the Guitar Shed family.

Our Story

How It All Started

Hey folks. Parker here — you may have seen me around the Shed teaching, behind the desk, or chatting with the barber, Rolando next door. I started playing guitar at age 10 with much excitement and frustration. After a couple of years of hammering away on my poor guitar, I enrolled in private lessons and have been studying ever since. I still take lessons occasionally to this day and am always looking for ways to improve my playing and teaching.

Coming Home to Atlanta

While finishing grad school for music education in Austin, my wife (then fiancée) and I made the decision to move back to Atlanta to be near family. I stumbled on Kirkwood by chance while looking for spaces and immediately knew this neighborhood was the one. With a landlord who believed in my vision, I opened Guitar Shed in 2015 with just one room and four students.

Where We Are Now

Fast forward to today — we’ve got almost 30 teachers, over 400 students, and a growing presence in the East Atlanta community. We’ve expanded our space, grown our team, and continue to focus on what matters most: great music and great people.

A School That Feels Like Home

I wanted our school to feel warm, welcoming, and modern — not sterile or stuffy. My wife helped design the space so it feels more like a living room than a waiting room. We always have someone at the front desk, so teachers can focus 100% on teaching, and students and families feel supported.

The People Behind the Music

What really sets us apart is our teachers. They’re not just talented musicians — they’re excellent educators and kind human beings. I’ve played gigs with many of them, and I knew from the start they shared my passion for teaching.

Music for Everyone

Our studio brings together students and teachers from different backgrounds who enjoy a wide variety of music. We believe anyone can learn to play, so we try out best to be as inclusive as possible. Most of all, we are proponents of lifelong learning! From toddlers in Jaminals to guitarists who’ve been playing since the ’60s, we’re here for every age, every stage, and every style.
