BIO
Alex Gordon’s lifelong passion for the guitar began many a year ago when he first saw Marty McFly imitate Chuck Berry in Back To The Future. That fateful moment inevitably led from Alex strumming a pretend guitar made out of cardboard along with Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and Little Richard cassettes to eventually graduating with honors from the Atlanta Institute of Music decades later. After thousands of gigs and road miles and the unbelievably good fortune of studying under the adroit tutelage of session legend Wally Richardson (Benny Goodman, Peggy Lee, Tony Bennet, LaVern Baker) and fingerstyle master Tuck Andress (Tuck and Patti), Alex has established a wholly unique and engaging style all his own. Along the way, Gordon also made the life-changing discovery of the baritone guitar, which he has played for over 20 years.
As a guitar instructor for over 30 years, Alex believes that being a good teacher is all about providing a steady source of encouragement, knowledge and upliftment. Each lesson requires an individual approach based on the student and Alex specializes in understanding what can help each student reach the next level they aspire to, whether they’re just starting out or have been playing guitar for years. In addition to teaching thousands of private and group guitar lessons, Alex has also created, written and produced video course materials for basic guitar theory and has written several guitar workbooks.
